About Ciara

Rooted in story, shaped through film and image.

Ciara Foran is a filmmaker and photographer from Killarney, Co. Kerry. Her work centres on original fiction and documentary storytelling, with a focus on thoughtful, visually led narratives. Working across writing, directing, and camera, she brings a hands-on approach to each stage of the process.

Alongside her film practice, Ciara develops photographic work and has collaborated on a range of projects across Ireland. A graduate of Film and Screen Media at University College Cork, she is currently working through the Irish language, with a growing body of work reflecting this direction.

Director

I plan everything in the pre-production stage. I block every scene, storyboard every frame, create shot lists, and rehearse actions with the actors.

Writer

I have studied screenwriting at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and have written and directed several short drama films in both English and Irish.

Editor

Editing is second nature to me, having begun editing as a hobby at age 10. I am trained in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, & Sony Vegas Pro.

Director of Photography

From my background in photography, I am proficient in composition and lighting. I work with cinema cameras, camcorders, DSLRs, and drones. I provide my own equipment.

Photographer

I have studied portrait and general photography at an undergraduate level. I work with digital and film. I provide my own camera, lights, and backdrops.

Producer

I have produced both fiction and documentary films. I am proficient in writing consent forms, production planning, location sourcing, and digital marketing.
